What Stopping Distances Theory Questions Cover

The Highway Code gives typical stopping distances for a car on a dry road: 12 metres at 20mph, 23 metres at 30mph, 36 metres at 40mph, 53 metres at 50mph, 73 metres at 60mph and 96 metres at 70mph. In the wet they can be at least double, and on ice up to ten times longer.

You will also be asked about following distances — the two-second rule in good conditions, at least four seconds in the wet. Learning the pattern rather than memorising every number makes these questions straightforward.
