International Driver Assessment

A two-hour drive with a DVSA approved instructor that evaluates your existing driving ability, identifies the areas that need work under UK standards, and recommends the right further training. You leave with a clear, honest picture rather than a sales pitch.

  • Assessment of your current driving against UK test standards
  • Written summary of what needs work and why
  • A recommended number of hours, not a package pushed at you
  • Manual or automatic, subject to availability
Why It Is Different

Driving in the UK Is Not Just Driving on the Left

Most overseas drivers arrive perfectly competent. What catches people out is not skill, it is convention — the specific way UK roads expect you to behave, and the specific things a UK examiner marks.

Habits that are normal and safe elsewhere can be marked as faults here. Our job is to find those habits quickly and replace them, rather than teach you to drive again from scratch.

What We Cover

The Full Programme

UK Road Rules & Standards

How UK rules differ from what you are used to, and which differences the examiner actually marks.

Roundabouts & Junctions

Lane choice, signalling and priority — consistently the hardest adjustment for overseas drivers.

Lane Discipline & Positioning

Keeping left, correct road position, and when moving out is expected rather than optional.

UK Road Signs & Markings

Sign families, give-way lines, box junctions, yellow lines and what each marking obliges you to do.

Meeting & Passing Traffic

Narrow roads, parked cars and who gives way when the road will not take two vehicles.

Manoeuvres

Bay parking, parallel parking, pulling up on the right and the emergency stop, to test standard.

Independent Driving

Twenty minutes following signs or a sat nav, exactly as the practical test requires.

Mock Test Preparation

Full-length mocks on real routes, marked to DL25 standard, until the faults stop appearing.

Licence Rules

Can You Drive Here Already?

How long you may drive on your existing licence depends on which country issued it and your residency status. Some licences can be exchanged for a UK one without a test; others require you to pass the UK theory and practical tests.

Check the current position on the GOV.UK driving on a non-GB licence pages, since the rules change and depend on your circumstances. Our guide to which licences can be exchanged covers the general picture.

We are instructors, not immigration or licensing advisers. We will tell you honestly when a question is one for the DVLA rather than us.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Test waiting times vary by location. As part of our Early Test Booking Support we advise you on which test centres currently have shorter waiting lists and the best times to check for availability, so you can secure the earliest possible date yourself in line with the DVSA's current booking rules.

Yes. We offer flexible timings, including evenings and weekends, to fit around work, college and shifts.

Not at all. Pay As You Go lessons are paid session by session. For intensive courses you pay a £150 deposit to secure your place, and the remaining balance is due once we have secured an instructor for you.

Some learners do complete their training in that time, usually those with previous experience who can drive on consecutive days. We cannot promise it. Your progress decides when you are ready, and your test date depends on DVSA availability rather than on us.

Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. This is fair to instructors and lets us offer the slot to someone else.

Our instructors are experienced in helping nervous drivers and provide a supportive, calm environment to build your confidence. We can tailor the pace of your lessons to suit your comfort level.

If you are unsure, get in touch and we will help you choose. You can also book a 2-hour assessment with an instructor who will evaluate your current driving and recommend the most suitable course.

Yes — Early Test Booking Support is available with all our courses. From May 2026 students book their own test directly with the DVSA, and we guide you through every step.
