What the Training Covers

Comprehensive Training

Training covering driving ability, instructional techniques, road safety, lesson planning and communication.

Experienced Trainers

One-to-one guidance from experienced instructors who are teaching on the road every week.

Flexible Training

Sessions arranged around your availability wherever possible, including evenings and weekends.

How We Teach

Face-to-Face, In a Real Car

Our training is practical and face-to-face rather than online or virtual-reality based. You learn to teach by teaching, in a dual-control car, on the roads you will eventually work on.

That matters most for Part 3, where you are assessed on how well you actually coach a pupil. Screen-based preparation does not reproduce the pressure of a real learner making a real mistake at a real junction.

The Route

How Qualifying Works

1

Part 1 — Theory

Multiple choice and hazard perception, sat before you start practical training. You arrange this yourself with the DVSA.

2

Part 2 — Driving Ability

An advanced driving test of your own driving. Our package includes 10 hours of preparation.

3

Part 3 — Instructional Ability

Assessed on how you teach a real pupil. This is the hardest part, and where the other 40 hours go.

4

Trainee Licence & Beyond

We support your trainee licence application, then continue developing you once you are working.

Before You Commit

What We Will Tell You Honestly

Instructor training is a significant investment of money and time, and not everyone who starts qualifies. The Part 3 pass rate nationally is low, and we would rather be straight with you now than take a deposit and hope.

Things worth knowing

  • You must hold a full UK licence for at least three years and pass a DBS check
  • Part 1 is arranged and paid for by you directly with the DVSA
  • DVSA test fees for Parts 1, 2 and 3 are separate from our training fees
  • Franchise membership fees apply if you go on to work with us, and are confirmed in writing
  • Fee-paying pupil opportunities depend on demand in your area, and are never guaranteed

Come and talk it through before you decide. We would rather spend an hour telling you it is not the right time than sell you fifty.

Common Questions

ADI Training FAQs

Test waiting times vary by location. As part of our Early Test Booking Support we advise you on which test centres currently have shorter waiting lists and the best times to check for availability, so you can secure the earliest possible date yourself in line with the DVSA's current booking rules.

Yes. We offer flexible timings, including evenings and weekends, to fit around work, college and shifts.

Not at all. Pay As You Go lessons are paid session by session. For intensive courses you pay a £150 deposit to secure your place, and the remaining balance is due once we have secured an instructor for you.

Some learners do complete their training in that time, usually those with previous experience who can drive on consecutive days. We cannot promise it. Your progress decides when you are ready, and your test date depends on DVSA availability rather than on us.

Please give at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule a lesson. This is fair to instructors and lets us offer the slot to someone else.

Our instructors are experienced in helping nervous drivers and provide a supportive, calm environment to build your confidence. We can tailor the pace of your lessons to suit your comfort level.

If you are unsure, get in touch and we will help you choose. You can also book a 2-hour assessment with an instructor who will evaluate your current driving and recommend the most suitable course.

Yes — Early Test Booking Support is available with all our courses. From May 2026 students book their own test directly with the DVSA, and we guide you through every step.
