Once you’ve completed your West Didsbury driving lessons, it’s time to take the practical driving test. Feeling nervous is completely normal, but knowing the structure of the test helps you stay calm and focused.
Make sure you arrive at the West Didsbury Driving Test Centre at least 10 minutes early and bring your valid provisional driving licence. The practical driving test lasts around 40 minutes and includes the following:
You’ll be asked to read a vehicle number plate from a distance of 20 metres to confirm your eyesight meets legal driving standards.
You’ll be asked two vehicle safety questions — one before the drive (“tell me”) and one during the drive (“show me”). These cover basic vehicle checks and are easy to prepare for with the right guidance.
Includes various road types, junctions, roundabouts, and traffic systems.
One of the following: Parallel park, Bay park (forwards or reverse), Pull-up on the right and reverse.
The entire driving test is independent driving. You’ll be expected to drive safely and confidently while following instructions either: Using a sat nav, Or, By following road signs to a destination
You may also be asked to carry out an emergency stop if conditions are safe.
If you pass, you’ll receive a driving test pass certificate and can apply for your full UK driving licence straight away.
